2012: Winter 2012 Brandon University mourns the passing of Henry Champ—student, Chancellor and lifelong supporter —whose commitment to our institution guided many to our doors and endeared him to all. A native of Hartney, MB, Henry attended Brandon University in 1957 and 1958 when it was known as Brandon College.

2012: Summer 2012 While sports fans were flying into London for the 2012 Olympics, Brandon University graduate Geordie Waddell was making his way there for a longer stay—to pursue his Doctorate in Music at the world-renowned Royal College of Music. With both a Bachelor and a Master of Music in Performance from BU in hand, the young musician is keen to embark on this newest adventure in academia.
 
 
 
2012:Spring/Fall 2012 Cutting edge technology, international customers and big-budget projects are now part and parcel of Devron Kobluk’s professional life. As the President of Blue Diamond Technologies (BDT), he has co-created a company that owns intellectual property, trademarks and patents related to four different green businesses. These initiatives are helping to change traditional practices into more environmentally friendly ones.
 
 
 
2011:Summer The BUILD campaign prepares BU for success and growth by addressing one of the biggest challenges for Universities today – recruiting and retaining students or as it is sometimes called – student success. The BUILD campaign and the financial support it provides will continue Brandon University’s legacy as a celebrated liberal education university with a reputation for graduating excellent students.
 
 
 
2010: Spring/Summer | Winter Rubbing elbows with global leaders and business magnates like Tony Blair and Sir Richard Branson and jetting to Europe, Asia and other exotic destinations are par for the course in Richard “Rich” Stromback’s life. The Brandon University alumnus’ career path has led him to focus his attention on green technology and thus, has made connections with these and other ecologically conscious individuals.
 
 
 
2009: Spring/Summer | Winter The Brandon University Board of Governors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Deborah Poff as the 16th President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University. Dr. Poff, a Professor of Philosophy, comes to Brandon University from the University of Northern British Columbia, where she was the founding Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science and served for 10 years as the Vice-President Academic and Provost.
 
 
 
2008: Spring/Summer | Winter The landscape of research activities at Brandon University has changed. Five Canada Research Chairs have been recruited and new appointments in a variety of departments have brought new research agendas to the campus. The University’s commitment to building research capacity has also led to the establishment of a number of new research laboratories created to enhance the research experiences of both faculty and students.
 
 
 
2007: Spring/Summer | Winter For Kimberley Leslie Smith, profound inspiration came into her life when she was at a very young age, in the form of her little brother Mark. Though Mark, born with severe physical and mental disabilities, lived a tragically short life, the impact he had on his sister charted the course of her emotional, educational and professional lives, and continues to resonate through everything she does today.
 
 
 
2006: Spring/Summer | Winter Claudia Mitchell, is a respected professor, prolific author, risk-taking researcher, innovative media artist and, above all, a woman working on the wild side in a world where most others truly fear to tread. She is academia’s Lee Strasbourg and Steven Spielberg all in one; a revered coach to students the world over and a behind-the-scenes star whose credibility brings blockbuster status to any project with Mitchell on its billboard.
 
 
 
2005: Spring/Summer Tommy Douglas came to Brandon College in 1924 as amature student from working-class Winnipeg to resume an education interrupted by the need to apprentice in the printing trade as the first-born son of an immigrant family. Tommy’s attachment to his Scottish heritage ran so deep that a well-worn volume of the Bard’s poetry was a constant companion, as was the printer’s card he carried proudly for the rest of his days.
