Chris Byman

Christopher Byman is currently in the masters program studying clarinet performance and literature at Brandon University, where he recently completed his undergraduate with honours in clarinet performance.

As a performer, he has played extensively across Canada in various ensembles, including the National Youth Band of Canada, the Brandon University Orchestra, and the Brandon University Symphonic Band.  Also active as a chamber musician, Chris has performed with the BU New Music Ensemble, the BU Clarinet Choir, and the student-formed group Atiragram Quartet, where he recently competed in the National Music Festival performing Messiaen’s ‘Quartet for the End of Time’.

Aside from being a versatile performer, Chris has also given numerous clinics, beginner workshops and masterclasses throughout the province of Manitoba.

Chris began playing clarinet in the Springfield Middle School band program in Oakbank, Manitoba, eventually graduating from Springfield Collegiate Institute.  He has studied privately with Sharon Atkinson, Micah Heilbrunn, Guy Yehuda, Catherine Wood, and T. Patrick Carrabré (composition).
