Areas of Interest
Chris is interested in learning about people, and their interaction with each other and knowledge. This work involves troubling how we socially construct the relationships we have with each other, and the knowledge we take for granted. Of particular interest is the Critical examination of how we can be transformed through learning experiences, and how this can lead to more amenable thinking and to activism. This particular quest for knowledge crosses all domains and includes examining our psychological and sociological interaction with difference. One of the most important areas of interest, stemming from this examination of difference, is examining how we can best meet the needs of diverse learners and sociological perspectives in our classrooms, counselling offices, and schools.

Historical Perspective
Probably the most important history for Chris involves his wife and two children. However, from an academic and work perspective, a quest for knowledge has always driven Chris to expand his horizons. This quest was a significant precipitant resulting in Chris being an educator in a variety of different educational settings and roles in Manitoba. Prior to his employment at Brandon University, Chris worked as a teacher in public education in Manitoba for 15 years. During that time he worked as a teacher, principal, resource teacher and guidance counsellor. Of all of the jobs that he has had in education, being a guidance counsellor has been the most rewarding. Chris is currently working to complete his PhD. He is currently in the process of analyzing the data from his study on Teacher Transformation through Anti-oppressive Education.
