Teaching Interests: Are concentrated on 19th-century British literature, including the Romantic and Victorian periods. I also enjoy teaching women’s literature as well as gothic literature.

Research Interests:
Have recently reached from 19th-century British literature into contemporary film. I’m finding the new area of film to be exciting. The common thread in my research, no matter what the specific focus, tends to involve women or feminist concerns.

Publications:
I’m most excited about my current work. I’m co-editing with two colleagues (Susan Medd and Elizabeth Graham) a collection of essays to be published asa book. The tentative title of the collection is, “Ripley, Feminism, and Identity in the Alien Films.” As well as editing, I’m writing a chapter tentatively titled, “Perfectly Fine: Ripley, Frankenstein’s Creature, and Promethean Identity in Alien Resurrection.” Susan and I have also co-written the introduction and conclusion that tie together the 7 essays (by 7 different contributors) in the collection. We are in the process of finishing the manuscript and will be sending it to the readers within a few weeks. The collection will be published through Cambridge Scholars Press in England.
