Remote Access (Netstorage) Guide

What is Netstorage?

With Novell NetStorage, a user can securely access files from any Internet-enabled machine. A user can copy, move, rename, delete, read, and write files between a local workstation and a Novell storage servers network. This means that access is available from any Internet-attached workstation, anywhere in the world. There is no need to e-mail or copy data from one machine to another.

Netstorage Guide

What this means for you is that Netstorage allows you to access your personal network drives (such as N, S: & T: ) from anywhere you have internet access.

  1. To begin, open an Internet Browser and go to https://www.novell.brandonu.ca/netstorage
if that doesn’t work for you,  you can use http://www.novell.brandonu.ca/netstorage. (less secure)
What is the difference between https vs http?
  2. Choose “Continue to this Website” (Or I understand & add an exception for the a security certificate if required)
    Internet Explorer cert Firefox Cert
  3. Enter your Novell login ID and password.
  4. Click on the Home@Brandonu on the left for Drive N: folders and documents. or Click on DriveT@Staff on the left for Drive T: folders and documents.
  5. You can download and upload files to the server by clicking on the FILE link on the page.Select the folders on the left window, and open them by clicking on the little symbol beside them.To select specific files click on the checkbox beside them.

Now that you are familiar with how to logon to NetStorage. You may want to learn more of the basics by clicking where it says Help and then on the little yellow “help” that pops up. Or you can simply go to https://www.novell.brandonu.ca/NetStorage/netstorage.html
