Employee Health and Wellness
The purpose of this webpage is to alert BU employees to various opportunities and initiatives taking place in the workplace and surrounding community that promote and support their journey to achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
While it is important that we as individuals take responsibility for our own health and well-being, most adults spend more waking hours at work than anywhere else, so it only makes sense that more and more organizations are also promoting and supporting employee wellness. Afterall, having healthy employees is critical for organizational success.
Not only does the employee who adopts a healthy lifestyle reap the rewards, but their organization benefits as well. The following are examples of potential benefits for both:
For Employees
- Increased energy
- Better able to cope with stress; change
- Improved fitness and overall well-being
- Lower risk of lifestyle related illness (i.e. diabetes, heart disease)
- Improved physical, mental and emotional health
For Employers
- Enhanced recruitment, retention and engagment of healthy employees
