Workshop Outline

In the Building Understanding: Creating Relationships “nisidotamowinan” workshop, Rhonda McCorriston, Director of the Indigenous Peoples Center and Aboriginal Initiatives will:

• share perspectives on the importance of this type of session,
• acknowledge that we all have cultural and life experiences that shape and influence who we are today,
• explore, in particular, the identity of the Aboriginal population in Manitoba, made up of many First Nations groups with varying experiences, traditions, etc.
• recognize the fact that we bring our whole selves to what we do; discuss what this means in relation to Aboriginal students who come to Brandon University
• discuss ways in which we all can play a role in supporting Aboriginal students’ success
