Communications Office

Reporting to the Office of the President, the Brandon University Communications Officer is responsible for a diverse and all-encompassing set of needs relating to the University’s overall public image at local, provincial, national and international levels.

These needs include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the University’s ongoing communications programs and acting as a liaison in the areas of media relations, community relations, and publications.
• Managing University advertising with an eye toward meeting the strategic communications goals of the institution (for example recruitment, fundraising, and advancement of the University’s profile at all levels from local to international).
• Ensuring that University advertising and publications adhere to the visual identity and visual standards of Brandon University.
• Managing, maintaining and producing content for the University Web site’s frontpage, news section, and faculty profile pages.
• Providing assistance and advice to University departments and staff on matters that relate to University communications, as well as internal and public image management.
• Co-editing the biannual Brandon University Alumni News magazine.
• Administration of the Communications Office (media monitoring, maintaining files, prioritizing needs and objectives, coordinating and executing written correspondence, obtaining quotes and preparing purchase orders).
• Occasionally acting as a spokesperson for Brandon University (in deference to the President, department heads, and other personnel as required) and acting as an ambassador for the University to media and to the general public.

The Communications Office is located in Room 113-1, on the first floor of Clark Hall. Hours of operation are 8:30 AM to Noon and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with additional hours as required.
