BRANDON, MB – More performances and more venues mean more opportunity to enjoy outstanding music at this year’s Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival, an annual celebration held on the August long weekend featuring internationally-accomplished musicians from Brandon University (BU).
“We will be presenting the widest range of programming ever, since the Festival began in 2006,” says pianist Alexander Tselyakov, BU School of Music professor and Festival artistic director. “Classical to jazz, instruments and voice, sensitive to humorous to powerful – this year’s lineup is remarkably strong and diverse. It all sets the stage for an outstanding event.”
Performers from Brandon University’s School of Music include violinist Kerry DuWors, fresh from a new album release in June; Bostonian Sarah Hall, a soprano with performance credits in Italy, England, and across North America; percussionist Eric Platz, a recording and performing artist who has appeared on the PBS series Austin City Limits; and the Russian-born pianist Tselyakov, who has earned standing ovations in Japan, Germany, Russia, Italy, Israel, Spain, Portugal, France, England, Sweden, Austria, Poland, Finland, the United States, Denmark, the Netherlands, Turkey and Canada.
Originally based in Clear Lake, MB, the 2014 Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival will bring music to three Manitoba communities: the Erickson Lutheran Church, Lorne Watson Recital Hall in Brandon, and “The Martese” at the Marina in Clear Lake.
“The Festival represents the ongoing community engagement of Brandon University in support of outstanding music and cultural events throughout the region,” says Dr. Michael Kim, Dean of BU’s School of Music.
Concerts begin Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 pm and continue until the afternoon of Monday, August 4. Details are available at http://clearlakefestival.ca/.
