Research Areas:
Gender, Sexuality, Franco-Canadians, Religion

Dr. Langlois was born and raised in Ontario and has studied in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Ontario. Her approach to research is interdisciplinary as it draws upon feminist sociology and history as well as cultural studies. In substantive terms, Dr. Langlois’ research focuses on sexuality and Catholicism—a focus that has emerged out of her life experience as a child of both French-Canadian parents and the sexual revolution. Her dissertation focused on the ways in which Franco-Ontarian women negotiate between religious (Catholic) and secular meanings in their sexual lives. She is currently conducting fieldwork in the former City of St. Boniface, home to Manitoba’s largest concentration of first-language francophones.
