Programs in The Netherlands / Programmes dans les Pays-Bas
Canadians may apply under the Working Holiday Program (WHP) if they wish to travel while doing the odd job. The main objective is to gain insight into Dutch culture and society serving as a first introduction to TheNetherlands.
For complete details on the Working Holiday Program visit:
http://www.mfa.nl/ott/exchange_programs/working_holiday
The Young Workers Exchange Program (YWEP), however, is interesting for recent graduates or students who wish to gain work experience in their field of study or expertise. The program requires that they should find an employer in The Netherlands willing to undertake the process of applying for an employment authorization on their behalf. The applicant should try to negotiate a reasonable compensation or salary.
For complete details on the Young Workers Exchange Program visit:

Simply put, the Working Holiday Program is mainly for young Canadian travelers who wish to work on-and-off during their stay in The Netherlands, whereas the Young Workers Exchange Program presupposes some planning and will be mainly of interest to those who focus their stay in The Netherlands on gaining working and professional experience.
An additional volunteer opportunity exists in the Philippines. A local non-government organization, Volunteer for the Visayans, is recruiting volunteers to volunteer in local community projects such as local orphanages, schools, medical clinics, nutrition offices the city social welfare office, and other government offices. Volunteer projects last as short as 2 weeks or as long as 6 months. To find out more information about their programs, please visit their website at www.visayans.org or email info@visayans.org.
