Transfer Credit

Students who have attended or are attending another post-secondary institution will have an automatic transfer credit assessment done. Students must apply to Brandon University, pay the application fee and submit an official transcript(s) before the assessment is undertaken.

High school students with International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advance Placement (AP) courses may be eligible for transfer credit. Transfer credit is voluntary. Students must complete the required form to receive credit.

Students can check on BU’s Transfer Database to see what course(s) have been evaluated by Brandon University. If the courses have not been evaluated, students will be contacted by the Admissions Office to submit detailed course syllabi for the Departments to make an assessment.

Transfer credit may take several months to complete. Students are encouraged to apply early for the term they wish to attend and submit an official transcript with the application form. Students will be sent a list of transferred courses once the evaluation is complete.

Students with courses from another accredited post-secondary institution taken five years or more shall at the time of admission waive transfer credit by completing the Transfer Waiver form. Waiving transfer credit is an all or nothing exercise and permanent.
