Indicators of Student Success: Teacher Handbook

Within the Indicators of Student Success: Teacher Handbook, two perspectives of human development are discussed. Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model (Bronfenbrenner, 1986) and The Cree Medicine Wheel (Wenger-Nabigon, 2010) are the two theoretical frameworks discussed to help the reader visualize how the indicators contained within this handbook relate to the developing human being. Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model explains human development through a more Eurocentric lens. The Cree Medicine Wheel describes the cycle of human development through an Indigenous lens. Below are two diagrams that illustrate how the indicator scales contained in this handbook fit into these two theories.
