The edge landscape is an important open\u00a0space typology but should be designed to create a more\u00a0open, welcoming, and accessible face to the Campus.<\/p>\n<h3>Policies:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><div id=\"attachment_451\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 300px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/files\/open3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/files\/open3-300x177.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"177\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/files\/open3-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/files\/open3-180x106.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/files\/open3-250x148.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/files\/open3.jpg 502w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Precedent: Clear views through the Edge Landscape<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Conserve the heritage canopy but enhance it\u2019s\u00a0physical structure to allow for clear views and access\u00a0into and through the Campus. All trees including\u00a0existing evergreens should be limbed up to provide\u00a0a minimum 6-8 foot clearance underneath the tree\u00a0canopy. This allows for increased comfort and safety\u00a0of spaces framed by the trees.<\/li>\n<li>All hedges along the Campus edges should be\u00a0removed. Generally hedges should not be used on the\u00a0Campus as part of the landscape design unless used\u00a0as a screen for loading and servicing areas.
