The Movement Framework supports the evolution of Brandon University in\u00a0becoming an accessible, multi-modal place that puts the pedestrian first. It is\u00a0designed to increase connectivity with the surrounding community and create a\u00a0walkable environment for all users.\u00a0By accommodating\u00a0multiple modes\u00a0of movement and\u00a0prioritizing the\u00a0pedestrian, car\u00a0dependency will be\u00a0lowered at Brandon\u00a0University.\u00a0A clear hierarchy and function for streets is\u00a0presented in the Movement Framework with these objectives in mind.<\/p>\n
Gateways are an essential part of a wayfinding strategy. They need to visibly\u00a0stand out and be placed in strategic locations to draw visitors into the Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n Gateways<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n BU benefits from being well integrated into its urban\u00a0fabric by means of a grid network of north-south and\u00a0east-west streets. This allows the Campus to be well\u00a0accessed by all modes of transportation from every\u00a0direction.<\/span><\/p>\n Vehicles & Streets<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The majority\u00a0of the Campus is a car-free zone, with the exception of\u00a0some areas for pedestrian drop-off and the servicing\u00a0of buildings.\u00a0Pedestrian circulation must be of\u00a0highest priority.<\/p>\n Pedestrians<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n As Brandon University moves towards a multi-modal\u00a0movement strategy, cycling will become an increasingly\u00a0dominant mode of transportation.<\/span><\/p>\n Cycling<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n BU currently benefits from a well-connected campus, with\u00a0five public transit stop locations around its perimeter\u00a0that connect to the rest of the city.<\/span><\/p>\n Transit<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Surface parking on campus, and particularly along 20th\u00a0Street will be phased out in order to accommodate future\u00a0growth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nVehicles & Street Network<\/h2>\n
