As a result, it is extremely important that the\u00a0University establish a visible presence and identity at\u00a0this intersection.<\/p>\n<h3>Policies:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The gateway should be represented by an iconic\u00a0building of architectural significance and height\u00a0at this corner. The building itself can function as a\u00a0gateway treatment and should clearly represent BU\u2019s\u00a0identity.<\/li>\n<li>Provide clear pedestrian access points into the\u00a0Campus at the intersection, including passageways\u00a0alongside the field, and through building entrances\u00a0along 18th Street.<\/li>\n<li>Wayfinding signage should be used at this\u00a0intersection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Louise Avenue and 18 Street Gateway<\/h2>\n<p>18th Street and Louise Avenue is the most important\u00a0multi-modal gateway for Brandon University as it\u00a0functions as the main entrance into the campus from the\u00a0City. It is the primary face to surrounding neighbourhoods\u00a0and is deserving of the most prominent architectural,\u00a0landscape, and sculptural gateway features to suit.<\/p>\n<h3>Policies:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Treatments at this gateway can include significant\u00a0architectural building form, stand alone gateway\u00a0treatments, significant landscape treatments, or a\u00a0combination thereof.<\/li>\n<li>Gateway treatments must reflect high-quality design\u00a0and materiality.<\/li>\n<li>Gateway treatments need to command visibility at\u00a0this intersection. Consideration for colour, materiality, \u00a0height, building transparency and animation should\u00a0be part of the design objectives.<\/li>\n<li>The streetscape design must include safe pedestrian\u00a0crossings at the intersection.
