{"id":554,"date":"2017-08-11T20:23:58","date_gmt":"2017-08-11T20:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/?page_id=554"},"modified":"2017-08-11T20:23:58","modified_gmt":"2017-08-11T20:23:58","slug":"neighbourhood-gateways","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/campusplan\/plan-frameworks\/movement-framework\/gateways-wayfinding\/neighbourhood-gateways\/","title":{"rendered":"Neighbourhood Gateways"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Neighbourhood Gateways are the main points of\u00a0connection to the neighbourhoods and are intended\u00a0to demarcate a transition between the Campus and\u00a0surrounding community and provide clear wayfinding.<\/p>\n<h2>20th Street and Princess Avenue Gateway<\/h2>\n<p>20th Street and Princess Avenue is a community-oriented\u00a0gateway that connects most directly with surrounding\u00a0residences to the north-west of the Campus. New\u00a0buildings at the corners with animated uses at grade such\u00a0as a corner store or cafe are envisioned to help define\u00a0the entrance into the Campus and function as gateways in\u00a0themselves.<\/p>\n<h2>Lorne Avenue and 20th Street Gateway<\/h2>\n<p>The Lorne Avenue Gateway at 20th Street is a new connection\u00a0into the Campus and similarly to the 20th Street North\u00a0Gateway, is defined by new buildings and open spaces\u00a0that frame the entranceway into the Campus. It presents\u00a0a new opportunity to integrate and welcome residents\u00a0with quality buildings and a beautiful tree-lined entry.<\/p>\n<h2>Louise Avenue and 20th Street Gateway<\/h2>\n<p>The Louise Avenue Gateway at 20th Street is enhanced as a more\u00a0attractive and welcoming entrance into the Campus and\u00a0is an opportunity to better integrate the Healthy Living\u00a0Centre as a more prominent gateway building.<\/p>\n<h3>Policies:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Gateway treatments for these neighbourhood-oriented\u00a0connections should be welcoming in terms\u00a0of design treatments and can include a mix of\u00a0attractive architectural form and welcoming fa\u00e7ades,\u00a0inviting open spaces, beautiful and innovative\u00a0streetscape design, public art, and enhanced\u00a0materials.<\/li>\n<li>Each gateway should have safe pedestrian crossings\u00a0at the intersections with pedestrian signalization,\u00a0enhanced materials.
