The Department of Educational Administration, Foundations and Psychology, Faculty of Education, invites applications for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Foundations of Education with a specialization in Indigenous Education.

Applicants must have expertise, demonstrated by both experience and scholarship in Foundations of Education, which may include one or more of the following areas: Indigenous education, community-based research, human rights research, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and cross-cultural education. The Faculty would particularly welcome expertise in one or more of the following areas: anti-colonial theory, Indigenous feminisms, and gender/queer theories as they apply to Education. Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Indigenous Education and/or connections to FNMI communities would be considered assets.

At the time of the appointment, applicants must have or be near the completion of an earned doctoral degree related to the study of Foundations of Education. The applicant must have an active research agenda with the ability to teach at the undergraduate (BEd, post-baccalaureate) and graduate levels (MEd and PhD), as well as to supervise graduate students. In addition to teaching, scholarship and Faculty/University service activities, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain strong working relationships at the local, national and international level, with educational organizations and other potential professional partners. The ideal candidate will declare that they self-identify as Indigenous and preference will be given to Indigenous Canadians (e.g. First Nations, Inuit and Metis).

The Department of Educational Administration, Foundations and Psychology in the Faculty of Education has 17 full time equivalent (FTE) faculty members who perform research, service, and teaching responsibilities in the Bachelor of Education (BEd), Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (PBDE), Master of Education (MEd) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in different areas of the Faculty. The Department offers courses in the following graduate specialization areas: educational administration; adult and post-secondary education; counselling psychology; cross-cultural, sociological and philosophical foundations of education; and inclusive education.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The start date for the position is July 1, 2020 or as soon thereafter as possible.
