The Faculty of Education invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Educational Studies in the area of Special Education at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment, subject to budgetary approval, will commence August 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will have:

  • earned doctorate in Special Education, or closely related field, must be completed preferably by August 1st , 2021 (ABD applications will be considered);
  • specialization in child/adolescent development with expertise in (any) of the areas of socioemotional development, mental health, advocacy and diversity;
  • knowledge and experience related to specific disabilities of both high and low incidence (e.g., learning disabilities, autism);
  • evidence of research agenda, with a focus on inclusive educational practices;
  • professional interest or experience with, and knowledge of, students from diverse backgrounds;
  • the ability to work with, and be sensitive to, the educational needs of students from diverse populations.

The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate, professional and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and contribute to the development of courses in the Special Education area of specialization. The candidate should submit a professional dossier that provides evidence of excellence in teaching.

The application will be strengthened if the candidate has:

  • previous teaching, scholarly and professional research, and/or experience in an educational setting related to students with disabilities;
  • experience teaching using face-to face, blended and online modes;
  • established connections with the local, national and international community.

The ability and means to travel to off-campus locations for instructional purposes is a requirement of this position.
