Our growing company is searching for top talent to expand and join our team in the role of Corporate Legal Counsel located in the community of La Broquerie, Manitoba.

Reporting to General Counsel, this position offers an opportunity to work in a wide variety of areas of the law, including mergers and acquisitions, employment and labour, intellectual property, international business, real estate, financing, regulatory matters, general contract work, construction law, etc.

The Legal Department at HyLife currently consists of 2 lawyers and 2 legal assistants. HyLife is currently undergoing rapid expansion which will require growth in the legal department. In addition, individuals with an interest in other aspects of the business may have an opportunity for growth in operational or management roles.

Your days will include:

  • Drafting and reviewing a wide variety of agreements, including barn leases, hog supply agreements, equipment leases, employment contracts, corporate resolutions and minutes, asset purchase agreements, share purchase agreements, unanimous shareholder agreements, consulting contracts, trademark license agreements, etc.;
  • Providing consultation on regulatory matters, intellectual property, employment, construction, financing and other legal matters, with support from external counsel on matters requiring special expertise;
  • Providing legal services for purchases and sales of real estate, construction of new facilities, purchases and sales of businesses and other transactions;
  • Coordinating with law firms in various other jurisdictions;
  • Assisting with ongoing improvement of the Legal Department functioning

 To succeed in this role you possess:

  • Bachelor of Laws
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Manitoba
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Corporate and Commercial Law;
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff at all levels;
  • Ability to work independently in challenging situations
  • Previous experience in the hog or food industry is an asset
