The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing representative for the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. The Manitoba Metis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one term Crew Supervisor position within our Metis Employment and Training Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. This term is set to end on September 4, 2020.

The It’s My Community Too (IMCT) Program is an employment readiness program with continuous intakes of 12 training sessions geared towards unemployed or underemployed Metis individuals experiencing significant barriers to employment. The IMCT Program combines classroom training with safety certification and on-the-job work experience beautifying core areas in the City of Winnipeg. Work experience activities include basic general labourer activities including clean up, maintenance, mowing, landscaping, and painting of yards and community spaces.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Coordinate the program and implement activities;
  • Ensure timelines and milestones are met;
  • Document activities and complete activity reports;
  • Supervise, monitor, and coordinate the activities of the program participants.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff teams or work crews;
  • General labourer experience including yard maintenance experience;
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of small hand and power tools including lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and grass trimmers;
  • Physically fit, able to work outdoors and lift and move objects;
  • Ability to establish work priorities and ensure deadlines are met and procedures are followed;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of Metis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
