Ontario Tech University invites nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for the position of Dean, Faculty of Education, with the appointment to be effective July 2020.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic as part of the University’s leadership team, the Dean of Education provides strategic direction, academic planning leadership, and administrative oversight to achieve the highest possible standards in education, research, and service. Responsible for all academic, administrative, and external activities of the Faculty, the Dean will work collaboratively and effectively with administrators, faculty, and staff to develop, implement, and adapt ideas and visions as the Faculty moves forward in meeting the needs of students, faculty, staff, and the education community. The Dean will work collaboratively and engage with a variety of internal and external partners to further the vision, mission, and goals of the Faculty of Education.

The Dean of the Faculty of Education will be a respected and innovative educator with academic qualifications and research achievements relevant to the academic mission of the Faculty, administrative experience, knowledge of educational policy and the professional environment, and the skill to build strong relationships with a variety of external stakeholders including school boards, government, and other Faculties of Education. A strategic thinker, life-long learner, and excellent communicator who values diversity, the new Dean will facilitate and enhance the endeavours of the Faculty and the University through an open and collegial style, dynamic and creative leadership, outstanding management skills, and a flexible approach to problem solving. Experience building collaborative teams and working with a diverse range of internal and external partners will be important assets in this role.
