Gardewine Group Limited Partnership is looking for a Fleet Maintenance Manager to join their team in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for reducing maintenance costs, optimizing equipment repairs and increasing equipment availability. The Fleet Maintenance manager is responsible for the entire life cycle of all fleet assets and provides support, coaching and direction to the equipment coordinators, foremen and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, schedule, and audit vehicle repairs to include preventative, mechanical and electrical maintenance to tractors, trucks and trailers
  • Prioritize and assign work to meet service needs
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of all fleet assets and ensure timely and effective records are kept for all equipment and vehicles
  • Support, maintain and implement all maintenance policies and procedures and communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Identify problems before they occur using telematics and proactive inspections
  • Coordinate equipment utilization and performance with various operation groups
  • Control and analyze maintenance costs and/or repairs and provide expert recommendations
  • Manage and report on operational performance of the fleet, such as lifecycle management, cost per mile, and major component costs
  • Interpret system data and reports enabling consistency, improvement and the execution of preventative fleet maintenance.
  • Provide data and reports to the Director of Maintenance
  • Assist in the development of a capital equipment replacement budget
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with vendors and leasing companies
  • Coach and mentor technicians
  • Lead, practice and oversee safety in all shops to ensure accident and incident free environment and a clean space
  • Provide after-hours support

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible management experience in fleet maintenance management with technical/mechanical expertise
  • Post-secondary education is an asset
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills required
  • Ability to provide leadership across a multi-location work environment
  • Excellent team building, communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel as required
