GIS Technician (Student Position)

Term Position: May 3, 2021 – August 27, 2021

Are you a post-secondary Geographic Information Systems student wanting to gain real-world experience utilizing your GIS skillset? Under the direction of the IT Service Lead, the GIS Technician (Summer Student) will be responsible for supporting and enhancing MASC’s GIS environment by gaining knowledge and understanding of the environment, troubleshooting, creating documentation and completing projects. The successful applicant must be available to work for the duration of the term. Preference will be given to students furthering their education in the fall.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a technical diploma program in Geographic Information Systems or a related field.
  • Experience utilizing ESRI ArcGIS 10.x.
  • Knowledge of Geodatabases and Shapefiles.
  • Experience analyzing and manipulating data.
  • Experience working with and creating maps and map layers.
  • Ability to use Microsoft 365 products (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive) in a cloudbased environment.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of Province of Manitoba Legal land descriptions.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro architecture and functions
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Portal.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence and have the ability to travel within the Province of Manitoba.

This position has a salary range of $16.84 per hour to $18.65 per hour (under review), depending on education and experience.
