The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing representative for the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. The Manitoba Metis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Graphic Designer position within our Communications Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Design and produce creative design concepts, graphics, layouts, and promotional material such as displays, packaging, marketing brochures, iconography, logos, illustrations, website designs, etc.;
  • Incorporate design elements such as sound, color, animation, typography and images;
  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas;
  • Determine the message the design should display and create images that identify or convey the message;
  • Assist with designing website, interactive media and multimedia projects as required;
  • Research industry trends, best practices and make recommendations for new editing technologies to maximize efficiency;
  • Develop specific strategies for existing graphic design tools in order to increase efficiency;
  • Collaborate with the Communications team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications or related discipline;
  • Minimum two years’ experience in graphic design;
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio;
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop);
  • Proficient in HTML and CSS;
  • Knowledgeable of industry leading software and technologies;
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, planning and prioritizing skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality with a passion for graphic design;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Metis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
