Duties:

Reporting to the Chair of Civil Engineering Technology, the Instructor will deliver courses in the Civil Engineering Technology family of programs. Duties will include: course preparation, delivery, and student evaluation, the development and maintenance of course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, tests and examinations, and student records. The successful candidate will also participate in department and college committees, assist in department and college activities, and develop/modify curriculum to reflect current industry needs.

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering Technology; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
• Significant and relevant work experience in the environmental protection and/or resource sustainability
• Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems
• Working knowledge of Environmental Site Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments
• Knowledge of Federal and Provincial environmental legislation
• Work experience in supervision of others
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project
• Effective verbal and written communications skills
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• Commitment to lifelong learning

Assets:

• Work experience with development or maintenance of Environmental Management Systems
• Work experience with conducting or evaluating Environmental Site or Environmental Impact Assessments
• Experience with environmental sciences, analysis, and/or remediation
• Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment
• Experience with online instruction and learning
• Ability to work remotely
• Active membership in local professional association

• Instructors are required to complete a Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
