Duties:

Reporting to the Chair of Civil Engineering Technology, the Instructor will deliver courses in the Civil Engineering Technology family of programs. Duties will include: course preparation, delivery, and student evaluation, the development and maintenance of course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, tests and examinations, and student records. The successful candidate will also participate in department and college committees, assist in department and college activities, and develop/modify curriculum to reflect current industry needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structural engineering; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Significant and relevant work experience in structural engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in statics and strength of materials, structural analysis, and structural design
  • Experience with analysis and lab testing in load frames
  • Eligible for ACI Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience presenting to a diverse group of individuals

Assets:

  • Experience using Autodesk CAD software
  • Professional designation such as P. Eng.
  • Active membership in local professional association
  • Teaching experience at a post-secondary level
  • Experience with applied research
  • ACI Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification

Conditions of Employment:

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Instructors are required to complete a Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)

Salary: $58,158 - $86,376 per annum* (Effective June 20, 2020 salary will change to $58,744 - $87,246 per annum*)
