City of Brandon – Aquatic Facilities

**NEW – The City of Brandon will now be operating the Kinsmen outdoor pool as well as the Brandon Community Sportsplex.

Are you interested in providing safe and enjoyable aquatic services within the City of Brandon’s aquatic facilities? This position entails standard lifeguarding and instructing duties at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex pool and Kinsmen outdoor pool. Successful incumbents will be required to provide instruction in the many pool programs offered at the facilities. Lifeguard/Instructors are responsible for the general maintenance, care, and conditions of the pool area. Incumbents will work a variety of shifts during days, evenings, and weekends which may include split shifts.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not currently hold all of the mandatory qualifications or they are not current you may still apply for this position as long as you are enrolled in the proper courses/re-certifications needed to meet the mandatory qualifications listed below. If hired, you will be required to attain all of the mandatory qualifications within a specified period of employment. Preference will be given to applicants possessing all of the mandatory certifications and one or more of the preferred qualifications as listed below.

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificate;
  • Red Cross Lifeguard certificate OR Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard award;
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer certificate;
  • Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certificate;
  • Red Cross First Aid Instructor certificate.

NOTE: Incumbents must successfully complete a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Verification.

Rate of Pay: $14.19 - $20.26 per hour - 2018 rates.
