This Operational Internship Program works as an initiative designed to provide you with the opportunity to learn and gain hands on experience of the many operational facets of pork processing.  This program will encompass hands-on training on how to fabricate and package HyLife’s premium quality pork products along with developing supervision & management skillsets.

This 18-month program has the following 3 components:

Phase 1 – Plant orientation:

  • Discover your strengths and passion while you learn the operational side of pork production
  • Job shadow with all departments within the organization
  • Gain a full understanding of the various departments the roles they play within the organization, how they function, the standards within which they operate, and their goals

Phase 2 – Becoming a subject matter expert:

  • Hands-on training involving work on a production line
  • Job shadow & participate in various duties with our production leaders to become a subject matter expert

Phase 3 – Leadership training:

  • Participate in leadership training courses (internal and external)
  • Job shadow line supervisors and department managers to observe a variety of leadership styles

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • A grade 12 diploma, post-secondary education preferred
  • An ability to work various shift: days, weekends, and evenings as needed
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Canada, USA and Internationally
