BU Co-op can help you create temporary positions to fill the gap.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You need specialized talent:<\/strong> \u00a0If you are executing a special project and lack the people or the skills to take it to completion, BU Co-op can help bring your project to life without committing to a full position.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You have employees on leave:<\/strong>\u00a0Whether it\u2019s illness, vacation, maternity leave, or short-term disability, BU students can ensure you won\u2019t lose productivity when key employees are gone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You need interim employees:<\/strong> It takes about 90 days to fill a new position, plus another 30 days for the candidate to start. That\u2019s 120 days, on average, that a position stays open and productivity suffers. There is no fee for participating in Brandon University&#8217;s Co-op Program. The only cost related to the program is the <span lang=\"en-US\">co-op student&#8217;s salary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As the employer, the salary for a Co-op student\u00a0is determined by you, and is reflective of industry, market and location. Wages will also vary and depend on the discipline, the student&#8217;s experience, and the demand for students. Generally, salaries range from $15-$19\/hr, but all we ask that fair and reasonable compensation be provided.\u00a0Our Co-op Coordinator is available to help you with any of your salary questions.<\/p>\n<p>Now may be the perfect time to consider taking advantage of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/co-op\/employers\/funding-opportunities\/\">tax credits and the many other benefits<\/a>\u00a0offered for hiring students!<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-CA\"><\/span>At no cost, our Co-op Coordinator will:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Work with you to identify opportunities for co-op employment<\/li>\n<li>Provide you with an up-to-date salary survey to help you establish competitive pay rates<\/li>\n<li>Advertise your job postings<\/li>\n<li>Provide you with resumes of interested candidates<\/li>\n<li>Arrange interviews<\/li>\n<li>Extend offers of employment on your behalf<\/li>\n<li>Support\u00a0you and your student during the work term<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 role=\"button\" id=\"accordion-1-t3\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-controller\" aria-controls=\"accordion-1-c3\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-initialstate=\"closed\">\n\t\t\t\tHow long is a typical work term?\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div id=\"accordion-1-c3\" class=\"accordion-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\nTypical work terms occur over four months (for example, May to August) but can be extended using two consecutive semesters. These eight-month co-op positions count as two co-op work terms, and will require separate evaluations for each four-month semester.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 role=\"button\" id=\"accordion-1-t4\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-controller\" aria-controls=\"accordion-1-c4\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-initialstate=\"closed\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat are the deadlines?\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div id=\"accordion-1-c4\" class=\"accordion-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\n<p>Although there are no hard deadlines for employers, we recommend that job postings close anytime following the first month of a new semester (this would be February for a summer work term).<\/p>\n<p>Interviewing candidates within two weeks of closing a posting is preferable in order to ensure that candidates are still available and have not secured employment elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We also recommend that the hiring process be complete at least two weeks prior to the end of the semester.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 role=\"button\" id=\"accordion-1-t5\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-controller\" aria-controls=\"accordion-1-c5\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-initialstate=\"closed\">\n\t\t\t\tHow do I post a job?\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div id=\"accordion-1-c5\" class=\"accordion-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\n<p>Job postings are usually submitted online here, or by e-mail at <a href=\"&#x6d;&#97;i&#x6c;&#x74;&#111;:&#x43;&#x6f;&#45;o&#x70;&#x40;&#66;r&#x61;&#x6e;&#100;o&#x6e;&#85;&#46;c&#x61;\">&#67;o&#x2d;o&#x70;&#64;&#x42;&#114;&#x61;&#110;&#x64;&#111;n&#x55;&#46;&#x63;a<\/a> . You can hire eligible students while they study or after they graduate. Some of the advantages of hiring international students include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Proven English skills and ability to understand Canadian culture<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Have courage to tackle the unknown<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Can excel in diverse workplaces<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Considered to be among the brightest and most highly motivated from their home countries<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Have technical expertise<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Help to diversity and enhance your organization <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our Co-op Coordinator will work with you and the student to ensure all required documentation is complete.
