{"id":30,"date":"2017-06-20T15:36:02","date_gmt":"2017-06-20T15:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webtest.brandonu.ca\/economic-impact\/?page_id=30"},"modified":"2017-06-20T15:36:02","modified_gmt":"2017-06-20T15:36:02","slug":"canadian-inputoutput-model-results","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/economic-impact\/canadian-inputoutput-model-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Input\/Output Model Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>The Canadian Input\/Output Model provides calculated impacts in specific areas, including total gross output, total GDP, total labour income, indirect taxes, and jobs created.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Economic Impact<\/h2>\n<p>The Canadian I\/O Model can be applied at both the provincial level and the local regional level (as an estimation of spending locally) to estimate economic impact for Brandon University.<\/p>\n<p>The Brandon University expenditure data are used for both methods. The calculation for student spending for the I\/O model uses out-of-town students rather than full-time students. Visitor spending impact uses the same base number of out-of- town visitors as the Sudmant Method. \u00a0This model calculates the impact of three main variables (i.e., institutional spending, out-of-town student and visitor spending) and does not include the dynamic impact of the University over time (e.g., research impact or Alumni impact). Hence the numbers are much more conservative, but provide more detail in specific areas of spending.<\/p>\n<p>This method does not sum the economic impacts of the university for a total number, but instead calculates the economic impact of the areas of spending (e.g., University Operations, Capital Expenditure, Out-of-town students, Out-of-town visitors) on Gross Output, GDP Basic price, Labour Income, Jobs created and Indirect Taxes for the 2014\/2015 fiscal year. Tables 7 and 8 below provide details of the impact on Manitoba and Brandon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Figure 4.
