Along with economic impacts, Brandon University plays an important role in building the community, developing aspirations for further education and in offering opportunities for personal development.<\/p>\n<p>This Economic Impact Report calculates only an estimate of the dollar value that Brandon University is responsible for generating in the region. These numbers are useful in decision-making and demonstrate the importance of Brandon University to the economy,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/economic-impact\/bus-economic-impact\/\" class=\"btn\">Brandon University\u2019s Economic Impact<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-row \" data-column-group=\"1\">\n<div class=\"new-column-box  half count-1\">\n<h2>Direct\u00a0spending<\/h2>\n<p>Brandon University contributes more than $74 million directly to\u00a0the Manitoba economy every year, the vast majority in Brandon. This institutional spending includes salaries and benefits for\u00a0our highly-educated workforce, scholarships and bursaries for our students, supplies and maintenance, travel, utilities and capital expenditures.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/economic-impact\/sudmant-method-results\/institutional-spending\/\" class=\"btn\">Institutional Spending<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><!-- .new-column-box -->\n<div class=\"new-column-box  half count-2\">\n<h2>Student\u00a0spending<\/h2>\n<p>Brandon University is a magnet for young people and students, and attracts\u00a0more than 3,000 students to study,\u00a0live and work in Brandon. It estimates\u00a0an annual economic impact of $417.1 million for the university in the 2014\u201315 academic year. That includes direct, indirect and induced value that Brandon University is responsible for generating.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/economic-impact\/sudmant-method-results\/\" class=\"btn\">Sudmant Method<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><!-- .new-column-box -->\n<div class=\"new-column-box  half count-2\">\n<h3>Canadian I\/O Model<\/h3>\n<p>The Canadian Input\/Output Model provides calculated impacts in specific areas, including total gross output, total GDP, total labour income, indirect taxes, and jobs created.
