While a student is completing an undergraduate degree, they will want to be familiar with the requirements of applying to the 2-year Bachelor of Education After Degree, to make sure they are also fulfilled.<\/p>\n<h3>After Degree Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An undergraduate degree with a minimum 90 credit hours<\/li>\n<li>A minimum GPA of 2.50<\/li>\n<li>Resume and Cover Letter<\/li>\n<li>Three professional references (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/education\/files\/AD-ReferenceLetter-fillable.pdf\">Reference Form<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Senior Years only:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>24 credit hours in first teachable subject area<\/li>\n<li>15 credit hours in second teachable subject area<\/li>\n<li>NO D GRADES ACCEPTED TOWARDS TEACHABLE SUBJECTS.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/education\/programs\/after-degree-program\/overview\/#sy\">Senior Years Route (SY)<\/a>to see the additional requirements for General Science*, General Social Studies**, and Music***.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Application Deadlines (including supporting documents)<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Central Admission may take a few weeks to process Step 1. (A.D.) program require their Brandon University student number in order to complete the online application. <strong>If you are not currently a BU student<\/strong>, you will receive a BU student number after you have applied to Central Admissions, which could take up to 2 weeks. Please apply well before the deadline in order to then complete the Education Application by January 15th or March 1st. <a href=\"#\">Return to: Application and the Application Procedures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Online Application Walkthrough<\/h2>\n<h3>Stream Selection<\/h3>\n<p>Choose Early Years or Middle Years or Senior Years. There is a section to briefly indicate why you have chosen that stream. If you have applied into one stream and it is full, your application will be considered in another stream if there is room, and you meet the requirements.<\/p>\n<h3>Teachable Subjects &#8211; For Senior Years<\/h3>\n<p>Indicate your first and second teachable and list the courses from your transcript to show appropriate number of credit hours. No D grades are accepted towards teachable subjects. Please Note: If you are still completing any courses that you are listing, you can enter IP, TBA or TBD in the grade column.<\/p>\n<p>To access the list of teachable subjects and the additional requirements for the following courses: General Science*, General Social Studies**, or Music***, click on the following link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/education\/programs\/after-degree-program\/overview\/#sy\">Senior Years Route (SY)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Cover Letter and Resume<\/h3>\n<p>Have these ready to upload. Emphasize work\/volunteer experiences in an educational or other teaching setting, and\/ or with children or adolescents. Your cover letter should discuss your intent for learning about Education, or why you chose Education, etc.<\/p>\n<h3>Three References<\/h3>\n<p>There will be an area to download forms to distribute to your references or you can access the forms from the following link:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/education\/files\/AD-ReferenceLetter-fillable.pdf\">Reference Form<\/a><span>).<\/span>\u00a0These must be received by the application deadlines of January 15 or March 1. Your referee must email the completed form, from their work or personal email account directly, to <a href=\"&#109;a&#x69;l&#x74;o&#x3a;f&#x61;c&#x75;l&#x74;&#121;&#x65;&#100;&#x40;&#98;&#x72;&#97;&#x6e;&#100;&#x6f;&#110;&#x75;&#46;c&#x61;\">&#x66;a&#x63;&#117;l&#x74;&#121;&#x65;&#x64;&#64;&#x62;&#114;a&#x6e;&#100;&#x6f;&#110;u&#x2e;&#99;a<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Official Transcript (if applying from another institution)<\/h3>\n<p>An official transcript must also be submitted by all applicants applying from an institution other than Brandon University. Photocopies are not accepted. Transcripts are required to verify applications. Submit official transcript to admissions by June 15 if you have not yet graduated at the time of application or are taking additional required courses in Winter term.<\/p>\n<p>If your undergraduate degree is from Brandon University, you do not need to submit a transcript as we can access it.<\/p>\n<h4>Application Fee<\/h4>\n<p>$100 non-refundable fee is required to complete your After Degree application. You may pay online or bring\/send cash\/cheque\/money order to Financial &amp; Registration, Second Floor, Clark Hall 270 \u2013 18<sup>th<\/sup> Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 6A9. Cheques are to be made payable to Brandon University.<\/p>\n<p>All supporting documents must be in the Education office by January 15 for the early bird deadline and March 1 for the final deadline to be considered by the Admissions Committee.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/education\/programs\/after-degree-program\/how-to-apply-after-degree-program\/\">Return to: How to Apply<\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div><h2 class=\"tabtitle\"><span class=\"fa-number3\"><\/span>Submit Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Records Checks<\/h2>\n<div class=\"tabcontent\">\n\n<h2><span style=\"background: #afa;padding: 10px;float: left;width: 100%;margin-bottom: 10px\"><strong>Upon acceptance to the program.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2>Submit Child Abuse Registry Check (CARC) and Criminal Records Check (CRC)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Submit the ORIGINAL, valid, and clear Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Records Check with the Vulnerable sector completed, dated AFTER May 15th to the Field Experience office before July 31st. If you receive the CRC electronically, you must forward that email to the Field Experience Office before it expires within 30 days of receiving it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Steps to Obtain Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Child Abuse Registry Check (CARC)<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Apply for a CRC <strong>(including vulnerable sector)<\/strong> at your local police or RCMP Detachment. <strong>The CRC MUST be from an official police agency and MUST include the vulnerable sector<\/strong>.\u00a0 A CRC from an online website such as mybackcheck.com or certn.com WILL NOT be accepted. You will require 2 pieces of identification such as: SIN#, Certificate of Indian Status, Passport, Birth Certificate, MHSC (6 digit #), Driver&#8217;s License, Government Issued ID, Immigration papers, Nexus card, Professional Cards \u2013 Nursing Card, Pilot License, Canadian Citizenship Card or Firearms License or another photo ID.\u00a0 Credit Cards or Photo ID Cards from universities are not accepted as forms of identification.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.mb.ca\/fs\/childfam\/child_abuse_registry_form.html\">The Child Abuse Registry Self-Check Application forms are available online<\/a>. Please note: It can take 8 to 10 weeks to receive a CARC &amp; 1 to 2 weeks for a CRC to be returned.<\/li>\n<li>Any Criminal Records Check that indicates a possible criminal record will be examined to determine whether the record is relevant to the applicant\u2019s honesty, integrity and or suitability to the profession and whether the offence(s) constitute reasonable grounds to deny admission to the program and\/or for teacher certification. Terms, conditions or limitations on registration, in accordance with the Professional Certification Unit may be applied.<\/li>\n<li>The Field Experience office will require a record of the disposition of charges. A \u201cCertification of No Criminal Record\u201d can only be obtained with a submission of a set of fingerprints.\u00a0 This is the students\u2019 responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>A school may deny entrance of a Student Teacher depending on the severity and circumstances of charges.<\/li>\n<li>If a student incurs charges after the CRC &amp; CARC are submitted it is imperative that the circumstances are discussed with the Director of Field Experience <u>immediately<\/u>.
