With their education and experience, they possess a unique ability to meet the challenges presented in mental health service provision and mental illness prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants who meet the general admission requirements of Brandon University will be considered for acceptance into the Pre-Psychiatric Nursing Year. Upon successful completion of the required Pre-Psychiatric Nursing courses, students are eligible to apply to Year 2 of the BScPN program.<\/p>\n<h3>Special Features<\/h3>\n<p>Psychiatric Nursing is concerned with the health, especially the mental health, of individuals, families, groups and communities. Psychiatric nurses engage in therapeutic interactions with people to promote, maintain and\u00a0 restore health. They are concerned with those affected by psychiatric illness and developmental challenges, and with the influence of society on the mental health of people.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates of the program will be eligible to write the qualifying examinations for licensure as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Brandon University, in collaboration with the University of Winnipeg, offers our four-year BScPN program in Winnipeg.<\/p>\n<h3>Careers<\/h3>\n<p>Psychiatric nurses work independently or collaboratively as part of a clinical team in a wide variety of settings.
