Often at the end of December, we pause to take stock of our year. There is no need to belabour how 2020 has been a tough one. But the holiday season is also a time to look forward to the future, to rest and recharge, and to plan for better days ahead.
The BU community, of which you are an important part, gives us all plenty of reason for optimism. I am so proud of the many ways we have come together through the pandemic, and I eagerly look forward to the time — soon, I believe! — when we will come together in person once more.
Until then, I have a special treat for you. Recently, a couple of friends from the BU School of Music were gracious enough to play carols with me as I skirled along on my bagpipes. Socially distant, and with no audience, it was a strange sort of holiday concert, but it was a reminder that fond relationships and glad celebrations remain constant in our lives, even as how we express them must change. I invite you to watch the video above.
Have a wonderful holiday, and I wish you all the very best in the year to come.
