You can tell they are secure by looking at the URL and insuring it starts with HTTPS:\/\/.\n<ul>\n<li>Ex: http<strong>s<\/strong>:\/\/www.google.ca is secure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Update or patch your devices.\n<ul>\n<li>Most updates contain security upgrades that will keep you protected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Run Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware software on your devices.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/staff\/campus-antivirus-installation\/\">Campus Anti-Virus Sofware.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Know how to spot Phishing, Vishing, SMShing, or Pharming attacks.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/phishing\/\">Phishing<\/a> is email based.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/vishing\/\">Vishing<\/a> is phone based.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/vishing\/\">SMShing<\/a> is text message based.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/pharming\/\">Pharming<\/a> is a fraudulent website.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/it-security\/spear-phishing\/\">Spear Phishing<\/a> is a targeted email to specific people for a specific malicious reason.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/it-security\/email-spoofing\/\">Email Spoofing<\/a> is an email that is mimicking a legitimate person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Protect your personal information from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/helpdesk\/it-security\/identity-theft-fraud\/\">Identity Theft or Fraud<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here at BU we take IT Security very seriously.
