Here we profile the personnel who have worked on this community engagement project.<\/p>\n

2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kayleigh Tanner<\/strong> is an Ojibway woman from Waywayseecappo First Nation. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Computer Science. She plans to obtain an Education After-Degree in hopes of one day working in her community as a computer teacher, passing on her knowledge learned at Brandon University in a culturally responsive way.<\/p>\n

She carried out numerous cybersecurity workshops in communities during the summer of 2023 and gave a presentation about the project at an international research conference.<\/p>\n

Alexis Cinq-Mars<\/p><\/div>\n

Alexis Cinq-Mars<\/strong> is a Metis woman from Selkirk, Manitoba. She graduated from Assiniboine Community College in 2021 and decided to continue her interests as an advocate at Brandon University. Alexis is dedicated to her inherent right to protect our children, women, and 2SLGBTQ+ peoples by creating safe and inclusive atmospheres.<\/p>\n

Kendra Simpson<\/p><\/div>\n

Kendra Simpson<\/strong> is a Swampy Cree Bachelor of Nursing student from Norway House Cree Nation. She plans to utilize her skills learned from Brandon University within her home-reservation. She aims to practice within a paradigm that allocates towards Indigenous language (Cree), cultural traditions and knowledge while utilizing modern Nursing policies and ethics. She hopes to help share knowledge within communities alongside team members on the topic of cybersecurity following an Indigenous outlook and methods of traditional knowledge-sharing.<\/p>\n

Emeka Ezeh<\/p><\/div>\n

Emeka Ezeh is from Nigeria, West Africa. He has a bachelor’s in international law and diplomacy from Babcock University. He is a student of Master’s in Development Practice from the University of Winnipeg. He is expected to graduate in August 2022 and plans on furthering his studies in the technological scene. He helped with the visual display of much of our content.<\/p>\n

Farrah Huntinghawk<\/p><\/div>\n

Farrah Huntinghawk<\/strong> is an Anishinaabe from Treaty No. 4 Territory, here in Manitoba. She graduated from Erickson Collegiate in 2012 and is currently working on her undergraduate degree (BSc) with a Major in Physics and a Minor in Mathematics. By continuing her
\neducation, Farrah strives to be a role model for younger Indigenous people including her own daughter.<\/p>\n

Candace Richard<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Candace Richard<\/strong> is from Sandy Bay First Nation. She graduated in 1998 from Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School and attended Yellowquill College and Winnipeg Technical College. She is currently finishing her three year Bachelor of Arts Majoring in Native Studies and Art History at Brandon University. She is expected to gradua<\/strong>te in Spring 2020, and plans to continue her studies and get into the after-degree Education program.<\/p>\n

Farrah and Candace laid much of the groundwork for this project and gave our first workshops in March 2020 just before COVID-19 shut downs.<\/p>\n

Sarah Plosker<\/p><\/div>\n

Dr. Sarah Plosker<\/strong> is from Regina Saskatchewan. She completed her PhD in Applied Mathematics, focusing on Quantum Information Theory, from the University of Guelph in 2013. She started at Brandon University in 2013, and is now a Professor and Canada Research Chair in the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science. Further details can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gautam Srivastava<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dr. Gautam Srivastava<\/strong> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Brandon University. He completed his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Victoria in 2011. Having teaching experience of around 13 years, he has published over 80 research papers and articles. His research interests include blockchain technology, cryptography, big data, data mining, social networks, security and privacy, anonymity, and graphs.
