This service is available to newly admitted students, current students, students on exchange programs through Global Affairs (ELAP and BCDI 2030) and NSE.\u00a0 However, please note the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>OIA staff do not provide case-specific immigration advice<\/strong> or assistance with applications such as study and work permits, permit renewals, post-graduation work permits (PGWP), or permanent residency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brandon University does not provide custodial or guardian services<\/strong> for students who are minors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table width=\"623\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"623\">\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/international-activities\/studying-in-canada\/\">Studying in Canada<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>To study in Canada for over six months, including most programs at Brandon University, you need a valid study permit. It should cover your full program plus 90 days. If it expires before you finish, apply for an extension to stay compliant. Make sure your study permit remains valid for the entire duration of your studies.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"623\">\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/international-activities\/entering-or-re-entering-canada\/\">Entering or re-entering Canada<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>If you plan to travel to Canada, you may need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) in addition to your study permit. A study permit alone does not allow entry into Canada. You can apply for a TRV outside Canada or renew it from within if you have a valid study permit. Processing times vary by location.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"623\">\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/international-activities\/working-in-canada\/\">Working in Canada<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>As an international student, if authorized, you are allowed to work while you are studying. Before you start to work in Canada, you must obtain a Social Insurance Number (SIN).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>If you would like to speak with an advisor, please complete our:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/international-activities\/immigration-advising-appointment-intake-form\/\"><strong>Immigration Advising Appointment Intake Form<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n(Please allow a minimum of 3 business days for your appointment to be scheduled after submitting a complete request.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Advising appointments are intended for general information only.
