Here at the Indigenous Peoples’ Centre (IPC) we plan different events throughout the academic year for our regular and mature students, and anyone else who wishes to join. Examples of some of our events are:<\/p>\n

Indigenous Student Orientation
\n<\/strong>Along with the Brandon University Orientation Day we also hold our own Indigenous Student Orientation.<\/p>\n

Welcome Feast
\n<\/strong>The IPC hosts a “welcome back” feast for each new semester\/term. Knowledge Keepers, students, faculty, and staff gather and feast together.<\/p>\n

Our Journey Honouring Indigenous Student Success (Graduation Powwow)
\n<\/strong>Our Journey is a celebration to honour the educational success of our community’s Indigenous students. The event is hosted in collaboration with the Brandon School Division, Sioux Valley High School, Assiniboine College, and Brandon University.<\/p>\n

Everyone is welcome to attend!<\/p>\n

Potlucks
\n<\/strong>Come and meet with students, faculty, and community members over food. This is a great way to create community and relationships that will last you a lifetime.<\/p>\n

Round Dance\/Kahomani
\n<\/strong>Every spring Brandon University Indigenous Student Collective hosts a round dance for the community to get students together after a long winter of classes. Our goal is to bring everyone together for one night of positive fun, dance, and relaxation so that we can all go forward into exams with a positive state of mind, soul, and body.<\/p>\n

Ribbon Skirt Making
\n<\/strong>During the winter months, students and Knowledge Keepers gather to make a ribbon skirt.<\/p>\n
