Building Service Worker (Casual), Physical Plant

Wage: $14.40 per hour

Probation/Trial Period: Three Months’ Service

Hours of Work: On an as needed basis

Start Date: As soon as possible



Duties to be performed include but are not limited to cleaning; buffing and waxing floors; carpet care; auto scrubbing; changing lightbulbs; snow and ice removal; bed making within university residences; cleaning washrooms, walls, and windows; maintain the overall cleanliness of Brandon University campus; and other related duties as assigned*.


*Position may require heavy lifting, bending and working in elevated areas utilizing ladders and working in confined spaces and enclosures.



Candidates must have a minimum of Grade 12 or GED with two (2) years’ experience in institutional cleaning and grounds keeping; or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Candidates should have effective interpersonal and communication skills, plus the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.  Forklift certification, skid-steer and genie-lift training are considered assets.



Candidates being considered will be required to successfully pass a physical demands test. This position is subject to a Child Abuse Registry Check and a Criminal Record Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. There are ranges of schedule shifts that include evenings and weekends, as well as varying start times from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
