Development Officer, Advancement & External Relations

This position is a full-time, regular position reporting to the Director of Advancement & Alumni Affairs. The Development Officer will work in collaboration with colleagues, using best practices to execute fundraising initiatives to maximize total gift revenue through gift planning, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and annual fund strategies.

 

The Development Officer identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations and foundations through visits and other forms of personal contact. The Development Officer will be responsible for creating proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence and other development-related communication materials in support of the unit’s fundraising goals and objectives. The Development Officer will also plan and conduct programs and activities designed to promote donor and alumni engagement while ensuring appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers through effective use of donor and alumni databases and other institutional resources. The Development Officer will assist in short-term and long-term strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives, and will assist with other departmental, alumni, and Brandon University related activities and events as assigned.

 

The successful candidate must have 2 – 3 years post-secondary education and at least three (3) years related experience in a fundraising environment or a combination of education and equivalent experience. Experience building and executing successful social media or crowdfunding campaigns, demonstrated knowledge and/or experience of fundraising theory, event coordination and volunteeer management is required. The successful candidate must have superior writing and editing skills with experience in preparing briefing notes, brochures, speaking notes, web content, correspondence, reports, and other communiques. Must possess strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to handle highly confidential and sensitive information. Must be able to be an active member of a collaborative team in a dynamic environment with a positive attitude. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends. Some travel may be required.

 

NOTE:  This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

 

Classification:           MPO-IV

Salary:                        $69,864 – $88,400 per annum

(Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience)
