Faculty Supervisors, Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education is seeking Faculty Supervisors to work with our teacher candidates during our 2020-2021 field experience practicums. Fall practicums will take place October 19 – November 20, 2020. Spring practicum dates are March 8 – April 30 and April 26 – June 4, 2021. Due to the health and safety conditions that continue to evolve around the public schools in Manitoba it is possible that there could be some modification to these dates in the upcoming school year.
The role of the Faculty Supervisor includes maintaining communication with the cooperating teacher and the teacher candidate, monitoring progress, and providing advice and assistance as the teacher candidates develop their teaching skills. These skills include planning and preparation, delivery of instruction, classroom engagement/management/environment, student evaluation and assessment, communication and professional responsibilities. Supervisors observe, conference, mentor, and in consultation with the cooperating teacher generate a summative report. Faculty Supervisors keep the Field Experience office informed of any difficulties. As above, due to the unknown nature of the current world wide pandemic, the practicum experience may involve some on-line components. As this situation is very fluid it is anticipated some competency in on-line communication will be necessary to support teacher candidates in their 20/21 practicums.
Applicants must have a good understanding of the Manitoba school curriculum, be willing to adapt to an on-line learning environment and have recent successful teaching experience and/or relevant expertise.
