Probation/Trial Period: 520 Hours of Service

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

The Lead Cook will be responsible for the direction and supervision of kitchen staff and assigning duties. The lead cook reports directly to the Food Services Manager and performs a variety of duties such as preparing menus, inventory, ordering and receiving orders, food costing, food preparation, following policies and procedures, dealing with customers and other related duties as assigned.



Successful completion of High School or equivalent, a Red Seal certificate in cooking and food preparation from a recognized institution is preferred and six (6) years of experience in commercial quantity cooking, five (5) years must be at a senior leadership capacity or a comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Certification in Safe Food Handling and a valid Manitoba driver’s license is required. Must be specialized and have experience with all aspects of Special Functions, menu planning, food ordering and inventory control. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions. Excellent customer service skills are essential.

Must be able to work well under pressure independently and in a team environment. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, leadership and a strong desire to succeed. Must be flexible regarding work hours as may be called in on short notice. Must present a clean and tidy appearance and follow all Manitoba Health regulations concerning hair and dress.


**NOTE** This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry are required and the successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. This position is subject to layoff or reduced hours during periods of slow activity.
