Dr. Smid is working on a research project funded by the Brandon University Research Committee, comparing “real” and “literary” beekeeping. She will be examining archival material from local beekeeping associations to determine if and how beekeepers feel affection for their hives. The research assistant will assist in organizing back issues of newsletters, and will create a database of the contents of the archival material.
• May have background in humanities;
• Must have an interest in research;
• Must have strong organizational skills.
• Assist in organizing and summarizing archival material;
• Assist with design of research instruments, organizing, and interpreting data;
• Attend meetings.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to acquire valuable training in archival research.
