Six-Month Term Position – Department of Psychology, Faculty of Science
Applications are invited for a six-month full-time term position in the Department of Psychology, effective August 1, 2020, or as mutually agreed. Due to COVID-19, courses will be taught via an alternative synchronous online format.
Teaching responsibilities include:
1) Course Instruction September to December 2020 (9 credit hours)
• Two sections of 82.160 Introduction to Psychology: Part I
o Students will be given an insight into the foundations of psychology through an examination of the following topics: history and research in psychology, biological and genetic foundations of behaviour, sensation and perception, consciousness, learning, and memory.
• One section of 82.274 Child Psychology
o This course will focus on various aspects of development in children, starting with prenatal development until adolescence. Topics will include physical growth and maturation, cognitive development, development of language, personality and social development. Students will be introduced to various theories of development and research in child psychology.
• A PhD in Psychology is preferred; a Master’s Degree in Psychology is required.
• Experience in university level instruction and demonstrated skill in effective interaction with students required.
• Knowledge and experience with Instructional Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, D2L) would be an asset.
