Duties:

Installation: Mounting and removal of art exhibitions and presentations in the Sutherland Gallery/Umphrey Building space, art studio assistance, some collections management.

Online: promotion of gallery events via social media, email advertising, webpage design.

Research component: researching art gallery funding models.

Qualifications/Experience:

The successful candidate must have a background in contemporary visual art. Applicants who lack work experience or coursework in the visual arts or museum studies will not be considered for the position. Applicants should be familiar with the production and distribution of online promotional material such as Public Service Announcements sent via listserv. Web design experience is an asset. Work experience in a recognized art gallery or museum institution is preferred.

Must have accuracy in attitude, work well under pressure, have good interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills.

The candidate should also be flexible regarding work hours as may be called in on short notice. The candidate will be researching contemporary art gallery models to develop the programming and engagement with public. Please note that some of the work involved in this position must be done in the gallery, so the successful candidate will be required to come to the Brandon University campus and abide by the university’s and the government’s Covid-related safety protocols.
