{"id":9902,"date":"2023-10-06T13:18:54","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T18:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/jobs\/?page_id=9902"},"modified":"2023-10-06T13:18:54","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T18:18:54","slug":"director-physical-plant-position-overview-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/jobs\/director-physical-plant-position-overview-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Director, Physical Plant &#8211; Position Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Facilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> <\/strong>The Brandon campus includes 20 buildings, totaling 900,000 s.f., on approximately 30 acres of land in the centre of the City.<\/li>\n<li>The Winnipeg Campus includes a relatively small amount of rented space in the Rice Building adjacent to the University of Winnipeg.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fundamental Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responsible for preparing and controlling the department and project budgets, long range capital planning, expenditures, and departmental policies &amp; procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Meetings with Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, Faculty, and Staff as required<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for Security Services and contracted security services provider campuswide.<\/li>\n<li>Capital planning &amp; construction &#8211; meet with consultants including Architects and Engineers with<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>regards to the design and construction of new buildings, major renovations and alterations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct supervision of Building Services Worker staff &amp; operations.<\/li>\n<li>Indirect supervision of the Trades staff with the Facilities Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Required to oversee and participate in after-hours on-call program.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the function of Physical Plant office and all processes such as work requests, work orders, purchase orders, month end reports, security reports, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Develop strategies and programs to increase effectiveness and efficiency of department responsibilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Internal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Physical Plant staff including Maintenance and Trades, Building Services Workers, and Administrative Support staff<\/li>\n<li>Facilities Manager<\/li>\n<li>Vice-President, Administration &amp; Finance<\/li>\n<li>Director, Financial &amp; Registration Services<\/li>\n<li>Deans, Directors, Department Heads<\/li>\n<li>Human Resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>External:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Other institutions and counterparts at post-secondary institutions<\/li>\n<li>Brandon City Police, RCMP &amp; Security Services Provider<\/li>\n<li>Architects, Consulting Engineers, Building Inspectors &amp; other authorities having jurisdiction<\/li>\n<li>Suppliers and contractors<\/li>\n<li>Business Manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) union<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Facilities: The Brandon campus includes 20 buildings, totaling 900,000 s.f., on approximately 30 acres of land in the centre of the City.
