The purpose of the Strategic Action Planning & Alignment toolkit is to offer multiple resources that support you in the development and implementation of your unit plans and individual action plans.

Following the process laid out in the guide and using the templates provided in the toolkit helps to ensure that your unit and individual priorities, objectives, goals and actions are aligned with, driven by and supportive of the institution’s strategy for success in realizing our vision and mission.

Where to Start?

If you are currently developing your Unit Plan, work through Sections 1 & 2 of A Guide for Developing Unit & Individual Action Plans & Alignment.

If you have already developed your Unit Plan, proceed to Section 2 of the Guide titled, Individual Goal Setting & Action Planning.

Section 1: Developing your Unit Action Plan in Alignment with the Academic Priorities

Step 1: Identify your unit vision, values, and priorities, in alignment with the academic plan using the following template.

Step 2: Identify the academic priorities that your unit impacts directly and complete the appropriate template. For unit priorities that support the academic plan indirectly, a template is available under the Other Unit Priority heading.

Section 2: Individual Goal Setting & Action Planning

Step 3: Based on your unit plan, identify the actions within each goal you are responsible for.  Using the Individual Goal Setting & Action Plan template, identify your own individual goals and actions in alignment with the unit goals and identify any professional development required for supporting your success in achieving your goals.
