Alexander Tselyakov recognized as one of Canada\u2019s most outstanding musicians, internationally renowned pianist Alexander Tselyakov has been described as a \u201cphenomenal pianist\u201d (Germany), having \u201can intoxicating sound\u201d (Israel), and \u201ca perfect artistic individuality\u201d (Russia).<\/p>\n

Born in Baku, Azerbaijan , Alexander Tselyakov began his piano studies at age 5 in the Special School for Gifted Children at the Baku Conservatory. He began his concert career with the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Orchestra in his native Soviet Union at the age of nine. A student of Lev Naumov at the Moscow Conservatory, Tselyakov combines virtuosity with breathtaking musicality. Tselyakov has won major prizes at the prestigious Second International Music Competition of Japan and the Vlllth International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. He has appeared as a soloist with some of the world\u2019s most renowned orchestras such as the Leningrad Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra among many others.<\/p>\n

Tselyakov has appeared as a recitalist at major festivals and concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, the Regentenbau Hall in Bad Kissingen (Germany), the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, and the International Piano Festival in Istanbul. Tselyakov has also been heard on WQXR New York\u2019s \u201cReflections on the Keyboard\u201d, the BBC Radio (London, UK), Erstsendung, Deutschlaud Radio Berlin (Germany) and CBC Radio (Canada).<\/p>\n

A busy concert pianist, teacher and chamber musician, Tselyakov collaborates with many leading Canadian musicians. His knowledge of the repertoire and exquisite sense of program balance make him a valuable artistic director of two Chamber Music Festivals: at Clear Lake in Manitoba and Pender Harbour in BC.\u00a0 He resides in Manitoba, Canada where he is Professor of Piano at Brandon University School of Music.<\/p>\n
