Naomi Forman (www.naomiforman.com<\/a>) is a soprano who refuses to be typecast with interests that range from Bach to Broadway.\u00a0\u00a0 The Edmonton Sun described her as a singer who could act, and the Winnipeg Free Press hailed her as an actor who could sing!<\/p>\n

Select performing credits include Manitoba Opera, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Bach Festival Society, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Dry Cold Productions, Brandon Chamber Players, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Winnipeg, Rainbow Stage and the Opera Project.\u00a0 As a member of the Winnipeg Singers,\u00a0she\u00a0was highlighted\u00a0in Mendelssohn’s stunning\u00a0piece for soprano and choir,\u00a0O for the wings of a dove<\/i> on the choir\u2019s O Praise the Lord<\/i> CD.<\/p>\n

As a sessional voice instructor at Brandon University Professor Forman is applauded for her innovative and inspirational teaching savvy, and is a sought-after voice and speech arts adjudicator at festivals across western Canada.\u00a0 She is a member of the Brandon Chamber Players Artistic Committee, a Brandon liason to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and president of the Brandon Dance Ensemble.<\/p>\n

Her production company, Naomi Forman Productions (www.formanproductions.ca<\/a>) debuted at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival with StarBach\u2019s: The Coffee Cantata<\/i>, which received rave reviews and was later picked up by the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the Regina Proms and the Brandon Chamber Players.\u00a0 She is currently developing a Mozart chamber opera, and has commissioned and premiered numerous works by Canadian composers.<\/p>\n

Professor Forman has a Master’s Degree in Music (vocal performance) from Boston University’s School of Fine Arts and did her undergraduate work at the University of Manitoba with baritone Mel Braun.\u00a0 She has done additional training at the Banff Centre and Opera NUOVA.\u00a0 She and her husband Kent, two daughters and two cats live in Brandon, Manitoba where Kent owns and operates FORMAN HONDA, FORMAN MAZDA and FORMAN COLLISION.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharacter roles are the backbone of any Gilbert and Sullivan Opera and Ruddigore is no exception. Brandonite Naomi Forman as Mad Margaret was mesmerizing, with her wild eyes and sweeping dramatic movements. While she was onstage you couldn\u2019t take your eyes off her \u2013 she has that kind of star power. Statuesque even when barefoot, she writhed on the ground, producing a screech that sounded astonishingly like a seagull. And, she can sing. One thing that impressed me was that Naomi was more than willing to drive in from Brandon for every rehearsal, and, amazingly, she was never late. She was always there when you needed her, and that indicates her attitude to everything.
